Leadership Development Programs

Vicki designs and delivers leadership development programs to enhance performance in the achievement of strategic priorities.  She has an extensive knowledge of leadership theory, with the ability to ground theory in practical tools and techniques that transfer easily to the workplace.  Components may include learning activities delving into the bright and dark side of leadership, interactive learning sessions,  group coaching sessions with skills practice, and leadership mentoring.  

Vicki is an engaging facilitator and coach, with over ten years’ experience designing and presenting leadership programs at emerging, middle management, senior management and executive levels using adult learning principles and action learning. She has worked with global leaders from Australia, USA, UK, South Africa and New Zealand.  

Leadership Assessment

Research confirms that high levels of self-awareness are one of the key predictors of leadership effectiveness.  Vicki profiles leaders using evidence based assessment tools for:

  • Selection to ensure leaders fit the performance and cultural requirements of the organisation
  • Personal development as a platform for reflection to enhance self-awareness and leadership effectiveness


GPI – The GPI captures a cross-cultural measure of adult personality for the purpose of selection, coaching, feedback, and development.  The GPI is comprised of nine scales that have been found to be predictive of leadership performance:  Facilitating Leadership, Derailing Leadership, Thinking Style, Planning and Execution, Interpersonal, Motivation, Individual Work Orientation, Collective Work Orientation, Self-Management.

TMS – TMS focuses on identifying and understanding key work elements that prove to be reliable and valid in explaining why some individuals, teams, and organisations perform, work effectively and achieve their objectives, while others fail. The Team Management Profile enhances understanding of an individual’s approach to work and the strengths that individual brings to a team (relating to others, using information, making decisions, organising themselves and others), and links these preferences to eight team member roles.

MLQ – Based on the Full Range Leadership ModelTM, the MLQ measures active and passive leadership styles:  transformational, transactional, passive and laissez-faire (self-report and 360 degree feedback).

Genos – Genos emotional intelligence assessments, designed for middle to senior level managers, measure the emotionally intelligent workplace behaviours that underlie success.  Genos assessments are supported by extensive peer-reviewed research and the reports provide leaders with practical development suggestions.

Resilience at Work– The R@W scale is a measure based on Working with Resilience’s Sustain 7 Model, that assesses the seven components of individual employee resilience.

I partnered with Vicki  in delivering a two-year customised Graduate Certificate senior leadership development program for UnitingCare Queensland and Uniting Care Health over four cohorts of participants. 

As the internal program manager, Vicki assisted with customisation of academic content to align with the organisations’ strategic objectives and cultural initiatives, the design of some learning activities with the context of the organisation, and provided participant support.  I can attest to Vicki’s knowledge of leadership theory and her ability to translate that into evidence based leadership practice. 

Vicki was a guest presenter during the program on the topic of the dark side of leadership versus values based leadership.  I find Vicki to be very down to earth, practical in her approach, and willing to assist participants in developing insights and applying learnings. 

What I most appreciate about Vicki is her willingness to try new ideas. Vicki has a very keen intellect and she quickly sizes up concepts, particularly in terms of her ability to see the potential for a concept very early in the development process. During our time working together she was a great collaborator, which meant together we developed some very cutting edge approaches to the work we did.

Leaders are often confronted with wicked problems – problems that are difficult to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements.  Vicki works with executives and senior leaders on their leadership culture and approach to solving wicked problems:  diagnosing, developing, and delivering organisational development interventions across the employee life cycle to maximise manager and employee engagement, performance, productivity, and well-being.

Wicked problems are resistant to resolution, and efforts to solve one aspect of a wicked problem may reveal or create other problems.  Because wicked problems are difficult to recognise, leaders often focus on addressing symptoms, rather than root causes.  

Vicki takes a planned and systematic approach to enabling sustained organisation performance through the application and transfer of behavioural science knowledge and practice into practical solutions that increase capability and performance at the individual, team and organisational level.  As a trusted sounding board, she encourages executives and senior leaders to think differently when wrestling with wicked problems, to consider alternative perspectives, and embrace new ways of doing things.

As the Manager of Organisational and Professional Development at UnitingCare Health, Vicki led the development and implementation of a comprehensive workforce development strategy, with leadership development at its centre. 

Vicki’s leadership development solutions were always directly aligned to organisational strategy and business objectives.  She was focused on translating these objectives into meaningful and practical initiatives for our leaders that resulted in visible changes in leadership mindset, behaviours and performance.

As a member of the UCH Senior Management team, Vicki was able to partner with business executives to understand key industry and business challenges in order to build customised leadership and organisational development strategies.  This was demonstrated more widely with Vicki working across UnitingCare Queensland to participate in the development of the Uniting Care Queensland Values Based Leadership framework, which has become a foundational piece in our leadership strategy.

One of the most difficult career dilemmas is working with a toxic boss or colleague.  A recent study into the impact of toxic behaviour by managers found that even one or two of these behaviours, i.e. manipulating and intimidating others, was enough to cause harm to employees:
